About Bill

Bill Marion serves as principal and partner of Purdue Marion & Associates, a senior-level strategic communications company that represents a wide variety of industries, including gaming, financial services, real estate, technology, political and government entities, manufacturing, education, health care, and more. Bill specializes in strategic planning, media relations, crisis communications, stakeholder outreach coordination, community relations and government affairs. He has strong personal and professional relationships with senior staff and elected officials in every governmental jurisdiction.

A native of Las Vegas, Bill received his B.A. from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, his M.A. in English and American Studies from Purdue University and continued his education for a Ph.D. in literature at Boston University. He returned to Las Vegas as adjunct faculty in the English and History departments at UNLV.

From 1989-1992, Bill was the director of Senator Harry Reid’s office in Las Vegas, where he served as the Senator’s chief liaison throughout all sectors of the community. From 1992-1999, he managed Senator Reid’s office in Washington, D.C., also serving as special assistant and political designee.

Purdue Marion & Associates was formed when Bill left Senator Reid’s staff following his successful re-election in 1998.  Current agency clients The Energy Foundation, Republic Services, Transdev Transportation, Leeward Renewable Energy, the City of Henderson, the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada and others. 

Bill’s passion for expanding cultural, environmental and educational development in southern Nevada is evident in his personal and professional life. As the past chairman of the Las Vegas Arts Commission, he was responsible for passage of the percent-for-the-arts program. He was one of the founders of the Las Vegas Philharmonic, and is the past chairman of the board for The Neon Museum and chairman of Nevada Humanities, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. In recognition for his continued work in public relations and government affairs, In Business Las Vegas recognized Bill Marion as a “Person of Influence” in 2008, and he was recognized as Public Relations Practitioner of the Year in 2010 by the Public Relations Society of America.
